Innervation
The tracheal nerve supply can be divided into:
- parasympathetics:
- vagus nerve
- recurrent laryngeal nerve
- afferent visceral sensory: from same nerves
- sympathetics: fibres from upper paravertebral ganglia of sympathetic trunks; innervate smooth muscle and blood vessels
