Uses: in addition to rehydration in acute diarrhoea; also in chronic mild ulcerative colitis Dose - Adult: initially 4 tablets, then 2 tablets every 6 hours until diarrhoea controlled Child under 4 years: not recommended 4-8 years: 1 tablet 3 times daily 9-12 years: 1 tablet 4 times daily 13-16 years: 2 tablets 3 times daily Young children are particularly susceptible to overdosage with delayed symptoms - observe for at least 48 hours after ingestion. Very dangerous in accidental ingestion. Subclinical doses of atropine may cause side-effects in susceptible individuals or in overdosage Tablets: co-phenotrope 2.5/0.025 = diphenoxylate HC 2.5mg plus atropine sulphate 25mcg.
