There is increasing evidence from research of benefits of increasing the length of the consultation.

Doctors spending on average more than 9 mins per patient identifed and dealt with more psychosocial, preventative and long term issues.

Slower doctors performance drops in the above areas when they have to work faster. Faster doctors' performance improved when they work slower, and patients are more satisfied.
