Hess test
In this test the intracapillary pressure is raised by occluding veins with a tourniquet. A positive test is indicated if petechiae develop - in general this occurs in patients with thrombocytopaenia, small vessel abnormality and impaired platelet function - but it may also occur in normal individuals.
