Continuing use
Make sure that the district nurses are equipped to recharge the syringe driver daily and that an appropriate prescription has been written for them as well as the FP10. Leave the driver itself in a protected place.
Have a box with spare batteries, syringes, buttterfly connections, needles, dressings etc at the patient's house for the use of district nurses or anyone else who may be called to deal with problems.
Ensure there is adequate analgesia available for breakthrough pain.
