Teicoplanin
Indications:
- potentially serious Gram positive infections including endocarditis, dialysis associated peritonitis, and serious infections due to Staphylococcus aureus
Cautions:
- reduced dose in the elderly
- reduced dose in renal impairment
- FBC, liver and kidney function test required
Side-effects:
- fever
- rashes
- nausea
- vomiting
- diarrhoea
- bronchospasm
- anaphylactic reactions
- eosinophilia, leucopenia and thrombocytopenia
- disturbances in liver enzymes
- transient rise in serum creatinine
- tinnitus, mild hearing loss and vestibular disorders
- local reactions and thrombophlebitis

- i.v. infusion
