Citrate synthase

Authoring team

Citrate synthase is a mitochondrial enzyme involved in the citric acid cycle. It catalyzes the reaction of 2 carbon acetyl CoA with 4 carbon oxaloacetate to form 6 carbon citrate. Coenzyme A is regenerated.

Generally, the reaction is saturated and hence it is one of the targets for regulation of flux through the pathway.
