Calcium-dense lesions in the liver may be seen on abdominal radiography.
The differential diagnosis includes:
- calcified metastatic tumours:
- colloid colorectal carcinoma
- renal adenocarcinoma
- osteosarcoma
- chondrosarcoma
- cysts:
- particularly parasitic e.g. hydatid disease
- not developmental cysts
- haematoma:
- post-liver biopsy
- abscesses and granulomata
- histoplasmosis
