A lump that contains fluid may fluctuate.
If there is pressure on a cavity containing fluid then the increase in pressure within the cavity is transmitted equally and at right angles to all parts of the wall.
The lump should be felt in at least two other areas whilst pressing on a third. If there are two areas on opposite aspects on a lump that bulge out when a third area is pressed in then the lump is fluctuant.
