Symptoms

There will be severe pain and redness at the site of contact. A chemical burn may develop immediately, but sometimes the skin may remain intact until later, when the burn appears as a result of continuing destruction of the underlying tissue.

Action

Immediate first aid. Remove all contaminated clothing, wearing protective gloves and clothes to avoid touching the corrosive chemical. If calcium gluconate gel is available then rub it immediately into all affected areas of skin and massage continuously until all pain goes. If not, wash with soap and water for 30 minutes.
