Lymphoid blast crises respond best to standard ALL therapy - prednisolone or vincristine. A second chronic phase is achieved in 40-60%.

Myeloid blast crises are managed with AML therapy. A second chronic phase is achieved in 30% of patients.

Patients in a second chronic phase should receive:

  • AML or ALL maintenance therapy
  • craniospinal prophylaxis:
    • 6 intrathecal injections of methotrexate
