Drugs excreted by the kidney should be given with caution in renal failure. They include - although this is not an exhaustive list:

  • antibiotics:
    • penicillins
    • cephalosporins
    • aminoglycosides
    • tetracycline
  • beta blockers
  • diuretics
  • lithium
  • digoxin
  • procainamide
  • cimetidine
  • ranitidine
