Nitrogen dioxide is a toxic gaseous compound. It can originate from cars and also as a by-product of many industrial processes.

Inhalation may result in:

  • bronchospasm
  • laryngospasm
  • pulmonary oedema
  • chronic interstitial lung disease; this is generally of late-onset

Treatment of inhalation is largely supportive.
