Vasectomy is reversible in 50% of cases. Success is less likely when more than 2 cm of vas, or the convoluted part, is removed. Since reversal cannot be guaranteed, it is essential that the patient is adequately counselled with stress placed on factors such as the effects of possible loss of a child, and the long-term stability of the patient's current relationship.
