Erythropoietic protoporphyria is a rare disorder which has an autosomal dominant inheritance.

Cutaneous photosensitivity begins during early childhood and continues throughout adult life.

Both sexes are equally affected.

The cutaneous photosensitivity is often mild and non - disfiguring so that many cases are not reported.

Investigation reveal increased amounts of protoporphyrin in erythrocytes, and usually in faeces.
