Carotid artery TIA - approximately 90% of TIAs. Clinical features include:

  • contralateral motor and sensory disturbance
  • ipsilateral visual disturbance
  • amaurosis fugax - monocular blindness - if the TIA is in the ophthalmic artery territory
  • there may be a carotid artery bruit in the neck
