Lignocaine infusion

The doses of lignocaine used for infusion are as follows: 1 g of lignocaine in 250 ml of 5% dextrose, to give a 4 mg per ml solution.

Then:

  • 4 mg per minute for 30 minutes - i.e. at 60 mls per hour
  • 3 mg per minute for 1 hour - i.e. at 45 mls per hour
  • 2 mg per minute for 2 hours - i.e. at 30 mls per hour
  • 1 mg per minute for up to 44 hours, at 15 mls per hour
