Ureterocoele

A ureterocoele is a cystic dilatation of the intravesical part of the ureter as a result of stenosis of the ureteric orifice.

Presentation is either as an incidental finding, or, if symptomatic, with obstruction or infection. It is seen as a filling defect on intravenous urography.

Embryologically it is a remnant of the Wolffian duct.

Treatment is by incision, not resection - the latter causes reflux.
