Non infectious causes of diarrhoea would tend to cause a more chronic diarrhoea. Causes include:

  • monosaccharide intolerance
  • disaccharide intolerance
  • cow's milk intolerance
  • coeliac disease
  • ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease
  • cystic fibrosis
  • agammaglobulinaemia
  • acrodermatitis enteropathica - zinc deficiency
