  • posteriorly, medially and slightly superior: left atrium
  • superiorly and medially:
    • left auricle
    • pulmonary trunk
    • ascending aorta
  • laterally:
    • pericardium
    • left mediastinal pleura
    • cardiac impression on mediastinal surface of left lung
  • inferiorly: fibrous pericardium fused with tendinous portion of diaphragm
