  • anteriorly, to the left and superiorly, from deep to superficial:
    • transverse sinus
    • aortic valve
    • pulmonary valve
  • anteriorly and inferiorly:
    • atrioventricular orifice and mitral valve
    • left ventricle
  • posteriorly:
    • base of heart with pulmonary veins entering laterally
    • anterior wall of oblique sinus
  • superiorly:
    • left atrial auricle
    • right and left pulmonary arteries
