Inversion is a word with several medical meanings:

  • the act of turning inwards or inside out e.g. a uterine inversion
  • the movement of turning the plantar surface of the foot towards the median plane; the opposite of foot eversion
  • a chromosome mutation in which a gene or section of genes has been placed in reverse order along a chromosome
