Craniosynostosis is a condition where there is premature closure of the cranial sutures, resulting in deformity of the skull.

The condition may be primary or secondary; the former is the result of abnormal skull development, whereas the latter is the result of failure of brain growth. When refered to without prefix, primary craniosynostosis is usually implied.
