The clinical attributes of lateral sinus thrombosis include:

  • often few focal cerebral symptoms
  • papilloedema may be present, most marked on the affected side
  • may be evidence of a corticospinal tract defect on the opposite side
  • the Tobey-Ayer test is unreliable and should not be used
