Gangrene

Gangrene implies death of tissue, usually in large amounts, with loss of vascular - nutritive - supply, followed by bacterial invasion and putrefaction.

It may be seen affecting the distal part of a limb, the appendix, a loop of small bowel, and occasionally organs such as the gallbladder, pancreas or testis.
