Conversion is the transformation of emotions into physical manifestations.

Conversion symptoms are a loss of function without organic damage. This condition arises in susceptible individuals as a result of stress or in otherwise normal individuals in the face of overwhelming stress. Occurs in organs under voluntary (rather than autonomic) control, e.g. abnormalities of sensation, of movement and coordination.
