The history is important, and should include:
Initial features tend to be non-specific, and usually consist of nausea and vomiting. Patients may be asymptomatic for the first 24 hours after ingestion.
After a period of apparent recovery, there may be tender hepatomegaly and acute hepatic failure with encephalopathy. Hypotension, hypoglycaemia, and acute tubular necrosis may occur.
