The thioxanthenes are structurally related neuroleptic drugs, including chlorprothixine and thiothixene.

The pharmacological properties and clinical effects are similar to those of phenothiazines and are preferred by some clinicians. The relative advantages and disadvantages have yet to be fully evaluated.
