The lateral basal bronchopulmonary segment of the left inferior lobe is supplied by the lateral basal segmental bronchus, a branch of the left inferior lobe bronchus.

This segment only has lateral and diaphragmatic surfaces which are not enclosed by other segments of the lung.

Anteriorly is the anterior basal segment; posteriorly is the posterior basal segment. Superiorly may be either the mid-portion of the oblique fissure or the subapical segment of the inferior lobe. Inferiorly is the surface of the diaphragm. Medially is the medial basal segment of the left inferior lobe.
