  • the Kveim test is manufactured by the Centre for Applied Microbiology and Research

  • last batch that is still within its shelf-life was manufactured from splenic material that had been donated in 1988. The manufacturer ran out of stock in September 1996 and none has been issued since

  • the Spongiform Encephalopathy Committee and the CSM have advised that if any future Kveim tests are manufactured, splenic donations from a patient from a country without evidence of bovine spongiform encephalopathy should be used.
