Hyperimmunoglobulin E syndrome is associated with very high IgE levels in the serum. The consequences are recurrent, chronic infection.

The underlying defect is thought to be one of T cell suppression.

Treatment is with antistaphylococcal prophylaxis, chlorhexidine shampoo and attention to dental hygeine.
