Hyperplasia of the endometrium generally results from persistently high levels of oestrogens unopposed by progesterone. It is an important condition as it may denote a premalignant state.

Presentation is usually with irregular or prolonged menstrual bleeding or postmenopausal bleeding. Uncommonly, the uterus is enlarged.
