Arterial supply:

  • parietal pleura: from the supply to the thoracic body wall e.g.:
    • intercostal arteries
    • internal thoracic arteries
    • musculophrenic arteries
  • visceral pleura: from the bronchial arterial supply to the underlying lung

Venous supply:

  • parietal pleura: drain to veins within thoracic body wall e.g.:
    • venae comitantes of internal thoracic vein
    • posterior intercostal veins of azygous system
  • visceral pleura: drain into pulmonary veins of deeper lung parenchyma
