There are a wide variety of syndromes which result from brainstem infarction:

As a result of mid-brain infarction:

  • Claude's syndrome
  • Weber's syndrome
  • Benedikt's syndrome

As a result of medullo-pontine infarction:

  • Millard-Gubler syndrome
  • Foville syndrome
  • Wallenburg's syndrome
  • locked in syndrome

It is very rare for a patient to present with all of the classical features for a given syndrome.
