  • high dose corticosteroids
  • antithymocyte globulin
  • monoclonal antibodies
  • cyclosporin and/or thalidomide in chronic disease

Prophylaxis:

  • cyclosporin +/- methotrexate
  • removal of T cells from the graft

Adverse prognostic factors:

  • thrombocytopenia
  • raised serum bilirubin
  • progressive presentation
