Perseveration

Perseveration is the inappropriate persistent repetition of the same thoughts, as judged by the patient's actions and words.

If asked a series of questions the patient gives the correct answer to the first question but then will proceed to give the first answer repeatedly to subsequent different questions.

This condition is associated with dementia.
