Correctable lesions may be treated by direct drainage. A Roux-en-Y jejunal loop is anastomosed to the patent portion of the extrahepatic biliary tree communicating with the intrahepatic ducts.

Where direct anastomosis of the biliary tree and gut cannot be achieved treatment is with hepatoportoenterostomy of Kasai.
