Treatment is often unsatisfactory. Causes of generalized hyperhidrosis should be identified where possible and appropriately treated. If anxiety is a precipitating or contributing factor then measures such as oral anxiolytics, relaxation training and cognitive behaviour therapy may be beneficial.

In some instances oral anticholinergic drugs may be beneficial.
