  • nicotine is released from nicotine chewing gum over approximately 30 minutes of intermittent chewing. The nicotine is mainly absorbed into the blood through the buccal mucosa

  • the recommended starting dose is 8-12 pieces of 2mg chewing gum per day - the maximum dose is 15 pieces of 4mg gum per day

  • nicotine chewing gum may cause throat irritation in the short term (1)
