  • there are various brands of nicotine patch available - some e.g. Nicorette (5mg, 10mg and 15mg) are designed to be applied for 16 hours whilst others e.g. NiQuitin CQ (7mg, 14mg and 21mg) are designed to be applied for 24 hours but can be removed after 16 hours

  • there have been reports that the 24-hour patches can cause sleep disturbance and vivid dreams (1)

  • patches can cause skin irritation and reddening
