Bacterial folate synthesis inhibitors

Bacteria synthesis all of their folate from substrate, and have no ability to uptake folate from the environment. By contrast, eukaryotes take up folate from the environment, and cannot synthesise it.

The most common usage of compounds that inhibit folate synthesis is in synergy, inhibiting simultaneously two stages of the synthetic process.
