There are five categories of conditions which increased an individual's probability of malignant disease. Some of the conditions are listed below:

General:

  • Beckwith Wiedemann syndrome
  • hemihypertrophy
  • multiple exostosis
  • neurofibromatosis

DNA repair defects:

  • ataxia telangiectasia
  • Fanconi anaemia
  • xeroderma pigmentosa

Immune deficiency disorders:

  • common variable immune deficiency
  • severe combined immune deficiency
  • Wiskott Aldrich syndrome

Chromosomal abnormalities:

  • 11p13 deletion (Wilms' tumour)
  • 13q14 deletion (retinoblastoma)
  • trisomy 21 (Down syndrome)

Familial syndromes:

  • familial adenomatous polyposis
  • familial Hodgkins disease
