Angina affects about 1% of the population, the prevalence increasing with age.

In a health survey conducted for England in 2006:

  • 8% of men and 3% of women aged 55 to 64 and
  • 14% of men and 8% of women aged 65 to 74 have or have had angina (1)

According to statistics of British Heart foundation there are around 726,000 men and about 393,000 women aged between 35 and 75 who have had angina, living in UK (1).

It is estimated that almost 2 million people in England currently have or have had angina (2)
