  • another DMARD - leflunomide should not be concomitantly administered with another DMARD

  • alcohol - this is because of the potential for additive hepatic side effects - therefore alcohol should be avoided whilst on treatment with leflunomide (1)

  • the manufacturer advises caution when concomitantly prescribed with drugs that are metabolised by the cytochrome P4502C (e.g. tolbutamide, warfarin, phenytoin)

  • a live vaccine should not be administered if a patient is currently, or has recently received, treatment with leflunomide
