Albino patients have difficulty with direct sunlight:

  • their hypopigmented skin is easily sunburnt and should be shaded or protected with ultraviolet-blocking ointments
  • older albinos should have an annual skin-cancer screen
  • photophobia may be overcome with dark glasses

Surgery for strabismus is for cosmetic purposes only as binocular vision cannot be attained.
