Griseofulvin induces aneuploidy and therefore is a potential teratogen. Therefore it has been advised that both men and women should use contraception whilst taking griseofulvin.

  • men - should avoid fathering children during treatment and up to six months after griseofulvin has been stopped

  • women - should not become pregnant whilst taking griseofulvin or within one month of stopping treatment
