Thymomas are one of the most common mediastinal neoplasms - 90% are benign.

They are intriguing tumours because of their association with a number of systemic disorders, notably myasthenia gravis, haematologic cytopenias, hypogammaglobulinaemia, various collagen-vascular diseases, and nonthymic cancers, to mention only the more frequent.
