The passengers are the foetus, placenta and membranes.

Labour can be obstructed if the foetus is too large for the mother's pelvis.

A large foetus may be healthy or it may be pathologically large.

Malposition or malpresentation of a normal foetus may result in dystocia when pelvis and foetus would normally be considered compatible.
