This is a cutaneous reaction to a stinging or biting arthropod, usually resulting in itching and occasionally acting as a vector of disease.
Clinically insect bites are generally:
- urticated papules - there may be a central punctum; they may be excoriated; occasionally blisters are associated
- bites often occur in groups; often asymmetrical
- more than one family member may be affected
- may be secondary bacterial infection
- papular urticaria may occur as a complication of any insect bite(s)
