Cryoglobulinaemia (essential)

Idiopathic cryoglobulinaemia may be associated with a necrotising polyarteritis. It is characterised by:

  • absence of underlying systemic illness
  • palpable purpura
  • arthralgia
  • weakness
  • hepatosplenomegaly
  • diffuse proliferative glomerulonephritis

It is usually a mixed type cryoglobulinaemia, type I or II.
